Kia takes aim at Lexus and Infiniti with the KH Concept

But cars from South Korea have come a very long way, and plans for a range-topping luxury saloon from Kia are proof that they aim to take on the world’s premium car makers.

Mercedes will present three zero-emissions concept cars at the Detroit motor show in January 2009. Dubbed Concept BlueZero, the trio of vehicles is designed to showcase eco-friendly cars with everyday practicality – and demonstrate Mercedes’ single vehicle architecture that is used as the basis for all three. Lexus has a plan to head off speculators when its limited-edition LFA sports car goes on sale in January 2011. The company will offer only two-year leases for the $375,000 two-seater, said Brian Smith, vice president of sales and dealer development for Lexus division. Lexus will hang on to the vehicle's title.
